Smithville Air Conditioning Upon my arrival I checked into the concerns with the system not coming on. Performing my diagnostics I found that the transformer had been removed from the system because it was faulted. I spoke with the customer about needing to install a new one so I could further diagnose the system. When I installed the new one I found that inline fuse was larger then manufacture recommended and found a low voltage short at the outdoor system on the contactor. I also found that the blower was faulted. I spoke with the customer again about the other issues I found and he approved to have the repairs performed while onsite. I installed a new blower motor, transformer and contactor, redid some of the wire terminals I checked wiring on the outdoor condenser. While fixing a wire in the condenser I accidentally bumped one of the low pressure switch causing it to leak.

Found The air handler cabinet and heat transfer media coil pan and housing the be dirty with bacterial growth. Informed customer of my findings and presented options for cleaning. Let customer know that cleaning the system will not stop the bacteria from coming back. The bacterial growth present may negatively impact indoor air quality; if left unaddressed, it can also restrict airflow within the system, resulting in reduced heating and cooling efficiency. I recommended having SOLARIS uv bacterial prevention system installed to prevent the growth from coming back after cleaning. Customer wants options sent over via email. System cooling properly at this time.

Cleaned the electrical cabinet. Found both indoor and outdoor voltage enhancement systems to be reading below manufacturers parameters. Informed customer of my findings and presented options for repair. Customer chose the HN13A & HN10A options. I replaced the indoor and outdoor voltage enhancement systems and tested system for performance and safety. System cooling to manufactures specifications at this time.

Flushed and treated the water removal system, washed the condenser coil using water, cleaned and treated the electrical cabinet then verified system safety and performance. Found the cooling system performing to manufacture specifications but the Reme halo was not working. I found that the voltage conversion system failed preventing 24 volts to be supplied to the Reme halo. Spoke with the customer about my concerns and went over the benefits of Solaris vs Reme halo. They chose to have the Reme halo fixed for now. Installed a new voltage conversion system, redid wire terminals then verified safety and performance of the Reme halo finding it performing to manufacture specifications at this time.

Recovered all remaining refrigerant from the system, removed the faulted refrigerant pressure control, installed new refrigerant pressure control, flowed nitrogen while brazing, moved the new filter dryer to the attic, pressures tested to 350psi, performed a triple evacuation service, brought the system down to a proper vacuum, installed new performance enhancement system, recharged to manufacture specifications with new clean refrigerant then ran a performance and safety testing. Found everything performing to manufacture specifications at this time.

Found the outdoor defrost sensor sending incorrect readings and causing improper cycling. Replaced the sensor, verified control board communication, and tested both heating and cooling modes to confirm smooth operation.

They approved the bacterial prevention system while on site and want to set up a consult for the replacement of the duct work with adding in additional returns to each room. The office will schedule this.

Upon my arrival in Smithville AC Maintenance. I checked into the concerns with the outdoor system not coming on. I checked the high voltage first to verify there was nothing going off to ground due to the customer stating that’s the wire he shook and the unit kicked on. After verifying it was good I checked the low voltage wiring and found a wire nut was loose in the Y wire causing the low voltage to lose connection. I tightened the wire nut then tested the system finding it performing to manufacture specifications at this time.

The UV light was set to be cleaned once a year so I corrected that to the 4 year lifespan the bulb has. The outdoor noise only happened once that the customer was aware of but I did hear it while checking the system. I found the unit was just a little off level on the plastic pad so I put a shim in it to help prevent the noise. The noise will not cause any harm to the system. I then flushed and treated the water removal system, washed the condenser coil using water, cleaned and treated the electrical cabinet then verified system safety and performance. Found everything performing to manufacture specifications at this time.

Upon my arrival in Smithville AC Tune-up I evaluated 1 carrier gas furnace system. I verified system safety and performance is to manufacture specifications. Flushed and treated the water removal system. Cleaned the electrical cabinet and washed unit using water. Found the outdoor voltage enhancement system to be reading very low on the exhaust removal system side. 45/5 reading 45/3.9. Replaced voltage enhancement system under HN13E 2 year warranty. Found no other issues and no other recommendations at this time.

Informed customer of my findings and customer wants the options sent over via email to look over, also spoke to the customer about upgrading his comfort controller to either a Honeywell T6 or the Ecobee 6. Customer wants both options sent over to him and will have one installed on the next evaluation. Found no further issues and no further recommendations at this time.
