I found that the voltage conversion system failed preventing 24 volts to be supplied to the Reme halo. Spoke with the customer about my concerns and went over the benefits of Solaris vs Reme halo. They chose to have the Reme halo fixed for now. Installed a new voltage conversion system, redid wire terminals then verified safety and performance of the Reme halo finding it performing to manufacture specifications at this time.

Recovered all remaining refrigerant from the system, removed the faulted refrigerant pressure control, installed new refrigerant pressure control, flowed nitrogen while brazing, moved the new filter dryer to the attic, pressures tested to 350psi, performed a triple evacuation service, brought the system down to a proper vacuum, installed new performance enhancement system, recharged to manufacture specifications with new clean refrigerant then ran a performance and safety testing. Found everything performing to manufacture specifications at this time.

Upon my arrival in Smithville AC Maintenance. I checked into the concerns with the outdoor system not coming on. I checked the high voltage first to verify there was nothing going off to ground due to the customer stating that’s the wire he shook and the unit kicked on. After verifying it was good I checked the low voltage wiring and found a wire nut was loose in the Y wire causing the low voltage to lose connection. I tightened the wire nut then tested the system finding it performing to manufacture specifications at this time.

I found the unit was just a little off level on the plastic pad so I put a shim in it to help prevent the noise. The noise will not cause any harm to the system. Found the outdoor voltage enhancement system to be reading very low on the exhaust removal system side. 45/5 reading 45/3.9. Replaced voltage enhancement system under HN13E 2 year warranty. Found bacterial growth inside of the air handler case and on the air movement system assembly. Informed customer of my findings and presented options for repair. Customer wants options sent over to him to discuss with family. The bacterial growth present may negatively impact indoor air quality; if left unaddressed, it can also restrict airflow within the system, resulting in reduced heating and cooling efficiency. Will call follow up with customer on Friday to discuss options.

Smithville Ac repair Upon my arrival I checked into the concerns with the system not cooling. Performing my diagnostics I found the voltage distribution system faulted on the low voltage coil causing the indoor fuse to pop when there was a call for cool. I spoke with the customer about my concerns and went over repair options. A repair option was approved while on site and the repair was performed. I the tested the system finding it low on R22 refrigerant. I would advise to have the system upgraded with the summer approaching. There is a high potential it will not keep up with only having a 10°F split across the coil.

I found that it seems the thermostat was set down to 63° in cooling possibly thinking the setting was in heat. I verified all amp draws and system efficiency was within manufacture specifications. While in the attic I did notice an exhaust fan for the attic area was surging up and down on speeds. The customer will have a roofer come take a look at that.
