Elgin AC Tune-up Upon my arrival I checked into the concerns with the original mini split not coming on. Performing my diagnostics I found that the indoor inline fuse blew on the main control board. After speaking with the customer I did find that when this all occurred there was a storm that came through. The area he showed me the frog was located was on top of wire terminals that have a protective rubber coating on them. I believe the fuse blew due to the spike in voltage that happened within the home. I will get information in the morning to email over the repair quote since the manufacturer is closed. Will waive the service fee if a repair is selected since I was unable to present repair options today.

Spoke with the customer about my concerns, went over the age of the system and what the bare minimum it would take to get the system back operational today. Customer approved today’s repair and I performed this while on site. Installed a new voltage enhancement system then ran a performance and safety testing finding the equipment operating the best it possibly can given its age. They would like to sit down and speak to the comfort specialist about upgrading the equipment.

Upon my diagnosis, I found that the indoor air handling units door insulation had come off and was laid over the intake for the air movement system. This was causing an airflow issue. I also found the water removal system to be backed up, causing the water safety switch to trigger the system on and off intermittently. I informed the customer of my findings and presented options for repair. The customer chose the HF15A option. I removed the blockage in the water removal system and treated the pan and lines. I also taped the door insulation back to the door so that it was no longer coming off and causing an obstruction on the air movement system intake. Tested the system for performance and safety and the system is working to manufacture specifications at this time.

Elgin AC Service Arrived at a home in Elgin where the AC was running but struggling to keep the home cool during the afternoon heat. Performed a full diagnostic and found the system was operating with reduced cooling capacity due to a failed component that was affecting normal operation. Replaced the faulty component, checked refrigerant pressures, electrical connections, and system controls, and verified proper airflow through the indoor and outdoor units. Tested the AC through several complete cooling cycles and confirmed consistent cold air delivery with the system operating normally.

Elgin AC Repair Upon my arrival I checked into the concerns with the thermostat being blank. I found the float switch that was removed from the system was still being tripped where it was placed. I also found a cap on the vent pipe. I swapped the cap to the vent pup before the p-trap then ran 2 gallons of water through the system finding it flowing very well.

Performing my diagnostics I found the voltage enhancement system failed and the communication wiring was not making proper connection. I fixed the wiring and installed a new voltage enhancement system then ran a performance and safety testing. Found the system running the best it can given its age. I did find a significant amount of bacterial growth inside the indoor unit, the indoor coil very dirty and a filter sucked up into the coil. I removed the filter from the system and will email over options for cleanings. Given the system age I would l recommend speaking to our comfort specialist to go over upgrading to newer more efficient equipment.

Inspected the attic system and discovered the Lennox heat pump's secondary condensate drain line had backed up, triggering the safety float switch to cut cooling. We cleared the clog, flushed the entire drain line, and restored steady airflow to all top-floor vents. The master bedroom cooled down by four degrees before we even packed up the truck.

While my diagnosis I found the outdoor voltage enhancement system to be defaulted, not allowing any component in the condenser to run. I also found the voltage distribution system to be quite charred and missing its dust cover. I informed the customer my findings and presented options for repair highly recommending an option that would allow me to change the voltage distribution system as well. The customer declined and decided to go with the HN13A option. I replaced the outdoor voltage enhancement system and tested the system for performance and safety. System cooling into the best of its ability given its age and condition.

Found the voltage enhancement system for both outdoor condensers to be reading outside of manufacturers specifications as well as the voltage distribution systems to be charred. Both of these components if faulted could completely stop the operation of the system. I also found the outdoor exhaust removal system to be leaking oil. This can be caused by failed seals and rings within the system. If faulted the outdoor unit will overheat causing damage to the refrigerant circulation pumping system and won’t allow the system to cool. I informed the customer of my findings. Upon my diagnosis, I found water removal system to be backed up due to a clog in the lines. I informed the customer of my findings and presented options for repair. Customer chose the HF3A option. Elgin AC Maintenance Upon my arrival I checked into the concerns with the system leaking water from the ceiling. I found the 3/4” pvc piping exiting the home that the rubber tubing from the condensate pump was siliconed into was restricted causing back pressure on the piping and pushing the rubber tubing out. Today I cleared the drain line then secured the rubber tubing in a 3/4” cap that I drilled a hole and glued the to the 3/4” piping. I then stress tested the system with a gallon of water verifying it was flowing properly. Customer signed up for maintenance on the home again and when we perform the checkups we will need to also use a vacuum to clear the exterior pvc piping to avoid future issues.

Elgin AC Service Pulled up to a home in the Trinity Ranch neighborhood in Elgin where the homeowner said the AC had been struggling to start on hot afternoons and they had been hearing a labored sound from the outdoor unit before it finally kicked in. The system was not failing outright but it was working against the kind of voltage sag and heat-driven compressor back pressure that hits hard during peak demand hours in Central Texas. Installed a hard-start kit on the compressor to reduce startup amp draw and let the motor come up to speed gradually rather than hammering against the line voltage on every cycle. Tested startup through the hottest part of the afternoon and the compressor came on clean and quiet every single time. No more laboring and no more wondering if it is going to start.
