Today I arrived and verified concern of outdoor unit sound. I observed and recorded the sounds from system, I also completely evaluated concern. To my professional opinion I believe the system may be acidic and has deteriorated the outdoor motor causing the sound to increase as time goes on. Customers made me aware they have had copper system opened up 3 times within first year of install. I gave customer pricing on repairs if the parts were not covered under warranty, however I’ll find out about warranty definitively on Monday and get back with customers. Customers also mentioned they will be calling Christianson to see if they will help.

Upon my arrival I performed a 6 month checkup on one heat pump system. I verified the systems safety and performance are operating within the manufacture specifications at this time. During the evaluation I cleared and treated the water removal system. On the outdoor system I cleaned the electrical cabinet, treated it with insecticide and washed the condenser coil with water. There are no recommendations to enhance the systems performance and safety features today.

I still completed the indoor portion verifying the systems operations, clearing the drain line, adding drain pan treatment and changing the filter. Moving to the outdoor system to check pressures I found them to be extremely low. I checked the system for leaks and was unsuccessful at this time. I spoke with the customer about adding uv dye and that’s when he stated we had added this to the system once before. I checked back in the notes and found that it had been done 2 years ago. I did attempt to check for leaks with my UV light with not results. I checked for dye at the service valves and was not seeing any within the refrigerant at this time. I spoke with the customer again and he does want a comfort specialist to come out and see what it would look like to upgrade their equipment. When the comfort specialist comes out the

Also recommended purchasing the 10yr Extended Labor Warranty, you’re allowed to purchase this warranty within first 2 years of installation the timeline expires June 22 2025.

During the evaluation I did notice quite a bit of bacterial growth inside the air handler. I spoke with the customer about UV bacterial prevention systems and chemical cleanings. He declined these options but did ask what we could do about the exhaust vent for the microwave leaking water when it rains. Customer stated this has been happening since the unit was installed 10 years ago but no one has been able to find the reasoning for it leaking. I let him know when the lead technician gets back that I would speak with him about this and see what it would cost to replace the vent hood. I did inform him that we may have to come back out to take some measurements since it’s to wet for me to do today. Please make a reminder for me to speak with Daryl when he’s back from vacation.

I spoke with the customer about having the system cleaned and adding in UV bacterial prevention bulbs and adding iFLO pro for the drainage issues. Customer chose to not proceed with anything at this time but stated we could revisit this at the next evaluation.

I spoke with Mr Grover today about it Solaris and some bacteria spotting that’s occurring inside the system, at this point in time they are planning on selling and moving to Oklahoma end of year or early spring next year. If they happen to find themselves staying in the home longer then they would be more open to the Solaris UVC system. Upon departure left the upstairs and downstairs thermostats set to follow schedule in cooling mode. Please email Solaris estimates.

Upon my arrival I found that the low voltage fuse was popped. I performed my diagnostics and after tracing down several possibilities of the low voltage fault I found that the secondary auxiliary float switch was faulted causes the popped fuse. I spoke with the customer about the electrical repair that will be needed. Customer agreed too move forward with the repair. I performed the repair and found that the system is operating properly at this time.

On the outdoor system I found that the voltage enhancement system is past the manufacturer recommendation. I spoke with the customer about his different options for repair and he chose to go with HC6E and HN13E. We will have to schedule a return to perform these repairs. Upon my arrival I spoke with the customer about their concerns with the mold growth coming out of the vents in the bathroom area. I found that the vent in the master bathroom is not sealed well and the exhaust vent in the guest bathroom is not sealed well either. Further checking the system I found the insulation inside the blower cabinet is coming down restricting the air movement system and the filter was installed backwards. With the insulation coming down this can cause the homes humidity to be higher since it is not moving adequate air across the coil. I will be emailing over options to seal the troubled areas and securing the insulation inside the blower cabinet as well as emailing over Solaris options. I informed the customer that with my silver and above I will take care of the sealing of the 2 troubled areas and fixing the insulation inside the blower cabinet.

I spoke with the customer about my recommendations of a performance enhancement system being added to the downstairs system and a comfort specialist coming out to quote equipment upgrade for the upstairs. He would like the options emailed over for the downstairs repairs but does not wish to have a comfort specialist come out at this time. They are currently installing a pool and want to finish that before they take on any other expenses.

Upon my arrival I installed duct board inside the return air box on the side walls and the floor. I sealed around all connections with mastic and installed the drain line back that was in the way. I then tested the system and asked the customer is it sounded like it dampened the noise down to them any. He said he only notices how noisy it is at night when they are sleeping.

Checking pressures at the outdoor system I found that the pressure were showing some discrepancies. I added 1lb of R410a and found that it was just slightly low on refrigerant. I did verify there were no signs of any leaks on the indoor and outdoor systems. The slight lack of refrigerant could be over the duration of us checking the charge on the system. We will monitor this and if at the next cool eval it is showing low again we will do a more in-depth leak search on the system.
